Overview

To oversee and optimize the copying/printing activities of the school district by managing staff, equipment, inventory, and coordinating. Develop and implement strategic plans to maximize the use of equipment enhancing the department’s capabilities and efficiency.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or any equivalent combination of related education, training and/or experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential job functions.
  2. Five (5) years of experience in the digital production printing field, of which at least two (2) years must be in a supervisory capacity.
  3. Proficiency in graphic design software and print management tools preferred
  4. Experience in various printing technologies and equipment, including managing print production workflows and inventory preferred.
  5. Ability to develop and deliver effective training programs, with a focus on safety and print operations preferred.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of current technologies and trends in the printing industry. Knowledge of production printing to support large organization. Ability to schedule workflow to ensure delivery of printed materials by due date. Skilled in the operation of production devices, wide format and bindery equipment. Ability to manage a budget and allocated resources. Knowledge of quality control. Demonstrated problem-solving, communication and supervisory skills. Ability to project costs, schedule resources and completion dates of printing projects. Ability to schedule multiple projects for completion on multiple shifts. Proficiency in the Microsoft suite of software products (Access, Word, Excel, etc.); effective oral and written communication skills.

MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT:
Machines, tools, equipment, electronic devices, vehicles, etc., used in this position. Telephone, Computer, (Personal Computer and Mainframe), Automobile, Copier; Printing equipment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Describes physical conditions of this position.

Medium Work: Exerting up to 60 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently.

Note: Will total more than 100 percent as several activities may be performed at one time.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Conditions the worker will be subject to in this position.

Indoors and Outdoors: The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Directs the routine, intentional and efficient use of technology to streamline communications, organization, and management of processes.
* Collaborate with the Sr. Administrator in the development of long-term print shop goals, implement efficiency improvements, and conduct strategic planning to ensure alignment with the district's mission, values, and objectives.
* Collaborate with the Sr. Administrator in developing and implementing policies that enhance operational efficiency and compliance with industry regulations.
* Stay informed of industry standards and best practices, ensuring the department remains competitive and innovative.
* Have a thorough understanding of the latest printing technology and ensure its effective implementation.
* Train staff in new processes and equipment, and ensure the team is well-equipped to handle advanced technologies and maintain high standards of quality.
* Identify and implement improvements that enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and increase productivity.
* From an operational perspective, allocate resources to maximize efficiency and effectiveness, ensuring optimal use of budget and equipment.
* Manage subcontractors' performance and quality, in accordance with contract requirements.
* Maintain effective KPI management to help the print shop measure progress toward its objectives; identify areas for improvement and make data-driven decisions.
* Direct the overall activities of the print production program.
* Research, lead the evaluation and procurement of printing services equipment.
* Collaborate with staff develop comprehensive plans and identify expected outcomes/results for each section of the unit.
* Coach and/or mentor subordinates.
* Guide the strategic application of software to estimate project costs for printed materials and manage production and financial results.
* Ensure that OSHA and Right-to-Know requirements are met in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
* Implement appropriate procedures for staffing and coaching print shop personnel.
* Assist in planning long and short-range use of print production equipment for use in all district facilities.
* Manage and administer financial reports.
* Oversee the management of property records, inventory, and security to ensure accuracy and compliance.
* Guide the process of fostering positive customer service relations through research, data-driven planning implementing the plan, and evaluating the work.
* Participate in the printing educational advisory committee.
* Spearhead the oversight of print shop activities, ensuring all processes are running smoothly and efficiently.
* Operate the print shop in accordance with related school board policy and state statutes.
* Keep the Senior Administrator informed on production issues and personnel matters.
* Follow the district’s policies and procedures as related to all HRMD guidelines, executive limitations, the ends policies, the district’s instructional initiatives, and the school district’s charter guidelines.
* Follow the district’s policies and procedures as related to fixed assets.
* Develop leadership in subordinates.
* Responsible for keeping up to date on current technology being used by OCPS. With the support of the district, attends training to ensure skill level in various technologies is at the level required to perform in the current position.
* Responsible for maintaining timely and accurate information and accountable for the quality of information maintained by those they supervise.

* Essential Performance Responsibilities

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Non-bargaining Unit Compensation Plan, twelve months, 8.0 hours per day.

EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
