To provide and maintain landscaping and support service in the most efficient and economical manner, while protecting the health and safety of students, staff and the public.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school diploma or GED equivalent.
2. Five (5) years of experience in grounds/landscaping supervision and or management with large crews.
3. Minimum of three (3) Certifications or State Licensure in landscaping related fields.
4. Arborists license preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
The position requires the ability to evaluate the technical skills and supervise the work of employees and vendors in various grounds keeping fields including, but not limited to, landscaping, herbicide/pest applications, Tree care, general maintenance, and irrigation. Knowledge of and commitment to decentralized decision-making and accountability for results.
REPORTS TO: Senior Manager Grounds, Landscaping and Pest Control
SUPERVISES: The Supervisor assists the Senior Grounds, Landscaping and Pest Control Manager in evaluating staff in terms of performance and effectiveness: Landscape personnel, Trades Techs, Grounds Equipment Mechanic, and Irrigation team.

* Coordinate lawn maintenance for facilities throughout the district.
* Coordinate grounds equipment repair and maintenance.
* Coordinate the Herbicide section, in reference to licenses, and code compliance.
* Coordinates / Reviews the Landscaping/Irrigation; drawing and specifications for all new and refurbished district facilities.
* Reviews and makes recommendations for scopes of work and vendor contracts.
* Coordinate the Irrigation section; irrigation /backflow preventer maintenance and repair.
* Coordinates and oversees warranty issues.
* Coordinates the ordering/scheduling of materials necessary to support the schedules and other projects undertaken by the area team, and makes recommendation for tools and equipment replacement.
* With and through staff, develop plans and identify expected outcomes and results.
* Provides job estimates for work requested from school facilities and coordinates a schedule for completion.
* Ensure that each member of his/her area receives required and other (refresher) technical training, and provides input on the development of annual training programs.
* Provides input for recommendations relating to personnel allocations and annual budget preparation.
* Serves as liaison between school principals and grounds personnel in the areas of landscape support, quality control and customer service.
* Supervises the execution of lawn maintenance and irrigation schedules.
* Follow the district’s policies and procedures as related to all HRMD guidelines and the district’s instructional initiatives.
* Follow the district’s policies and procedures as related to fixed assets.
* Develop leadership in subordinates.
* Responsible for keeping up to date on current technology being used by OCPS. With the support of the district, attends training to ensure skill level in various technologies is at the level required to perform in current position.
* Responsible for maintaining timely and accurate information and accountable for the quality of information maintained by those they supervise.
* Responsible for self-development and keeping up to date on current research, trends and best practices relevant to the area of responsibility.

Non-bargaining unit compensation plan, twelve months.
