Overview

Ensure the timely processing of properly authorized income and cash transactions, prepare monthly charter school payments and assist in financial accounting within the section.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:



  1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field from an accredited institution or any equivalent education, training and /or experience which Provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential job functions.

  2. Three (3) years of experience in governmental accounting, finance or budgeting required.

  3. Experience in K-12 accounting preferred.

  4. Experience using an ERP systems preferably SAP.

  5. Advanced use of Excel required.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of governmental accounting and financial reporting; ability to use microcomputers and scalable computing environments; ability to read and interpret Federal regulations, Florida Statutes, State Board Rules, and Department of Education technical bulletins. Knowledge of and commitment to decentralized decision-making and accountability for results.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Describes physical conditions of this position.

Note: Will total more than 100 percent as several activities may be performed at one time.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Conditions the worker will be subject to in this position.

Indoors and Outdoors: The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Manifest a professional code of ethics and values.

* Model the routine, intentional and effective use of technology in daily work, including communications, organization and management tasks.
* Support the Senior Administrator, Finance in managing all operations and functions within the Accounting Section consistent with District priorities and District goals.
* With and through staff, help develop plans and identify expected outcomes/results for the Section.
* Support the Senior Administrator, Finance in gathering feedback and evaluating the effectiveness of the section as perceived by the users of their services.
* Review and analyze charter school monthly financial statements for determination of potential deteriorating conditions.
* Calculate and analyze monthly charter school FEFP payments based on weighted/unweighted FTE.
* Provide financial expertise needed to review charter school applications and provide feedback to school choice
* Attend charter school principal meetings and provide technical assistance and support to principals regarding FEFP calculations and payments.
* Review, analyze, reconcile and post parent overpayments.
* Review, analyze, reconcile and post district commissions.
* Review, analyze, and post district deposits.
* Prepare and/or oversee preparation of district Impact Fee Report.
* Prepare and/or oversee preparation of district Sales and Use Tax report.
* Request from DOE, monthly PECO appropriations and cash disbursements.
* Analyze, review and post monthly due to/due from journal entries to maintain balanced cash/investment accounts across all district funds.
* Review and reconcile the Digital Device Fines & Peripheral Revenues report.
* Assist in research and review f 1099 file related to internal accounts.
* Keep the Senior Administrator, Finance informed of critical issues within the section and incidents about which the Superintendent and/or Board should be aware.
* Follow the district’s policies and procedures as related to all HRMD guidelines and the district’s instructional initiatives.
* Follow the district’s policies and procedures as related to fixed assets.
* Develop leadership in subordinates.
* Responsible for keeping up to date on current technology being used by OCPS. With the support of the district, attend training to ensure skill level in various technologies is at the level required to perform in current position.
* Responsible for maintaining timely and accurate information and accountable for the quality of information maintained by those they supervise.
∗ Responsible for self-development and keeping up to date on current research, trends and best practices relevant to the area of responsibility.

* Essential Performance Responsibilities

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Nonbargaining unit compensation plan, twelve months, 8.0 hours per day.

EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
