Overview

To support the district’s communication goals and objectives for all aspects of professional video production utilizing high quality, engaging audio-video production techniques and strategies. This includes the recording of audio and video, producing and directing live events and TV studio projects, video editing, scriptwriting and coordinating promotional, training, marketing and other district productions. The goal is to use video production equipment, software and techniques to effectively communicate messages and objectives identified by the Communications Division and district departments.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in one the following areas: Video Production, Digital Media Production, Broadcasting or any equivalent combination of related education, training and/or experience which provides the required knowledge skills and abilities to perform the essential job functions. .
  2. Three (3) years of experience in video production, directing, producing, videography video editing, resource scheduling, and crew management.
  3. Preferred qualifications include experience in live television, studio production, videography using ENG style cameras, DSLR’s, drones, action and robotic PTZ cameras, audio mixing, podcasting, video interviewing skills, scriptwriting and storytelling, on-camera and/or voiceover experience, online streaming, basic technology troubleshooting, Apple and Adobe Creative Suite and experience within an educational or government organization.
  4. Valid Florida driver’s license required.
  5. The incumbent is considered to be “essential personnel” during an emergency and can be subject to being held over or called back to a district location at all times.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of professional video production procedures, practices, techniques, and terminology. Ability to gather and condense information into easily understandable scripts and productions. Display working knowledge of videography using traditional camcorders, DSLR’s, action and robotic PTZ cameras and production switchers, proficient in non-linear video editing, online video streaming, podcasting techniques, drone videography, file compression and software. Excellent organizational, project and time management skills, with the ability to work independently and in team environments. Must be able to take initiative, display extreme attention to detail, meet deadlines, and effectively manage multiple projects. Excellent interpersonal communications skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and directly with internal and external school district audiences.

SUPERVISION: Video Producer/Director

MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT:
Machines, tools, equipment, electronic devices, vehicles, etc., used in this position. Telephone, Computer, (Personal Computer and Mainframe), Automobile, Copier, Audio-Video Production Equipment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Describes physical conditions of this position.

Exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 15 pounds of force frequently. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated as Light Work.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Works inside an office environment primarily and outdoors as required at certain events.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

∗ Capture high-quality audio-video footage and edit content using industry standard hardware and software, creating polished final products.
∗ Work closely with clients who may not have an audio-video production background, understanding their communication goals and translating them into compelling media content.
∗ Direct video shoots in studio and on location, guiding talent and crew to achieve the desired visual and narrative outcomes.
∗ Develop and write engaging scripts for various media formats, including corporate videos, educational content, and promotional materials.
∗ Conduct interviews to capture sound bites and integrate them into audio-video content.
∗ Manage video servers and data storage, ensuring efficient organization and retrieval of video assets.
∗ Ensure all department video production projects meet deadlines and maintain high standards of quality and accuracy.
∗ Develop and produce podcasts, including recording, editing, publishing episodes and contributing content ideas.
∗ Perform on-camera roles and provide voiceovers as needed, maintaining a professional and engaging presence.
∗ Provide basic troubleshooting and diagnostic evaluations of production equipment to maintain operation and efficiency.
∗ Maintain awareness of department goals and responsibilities in the area of school TV studio installations and technical support. Provide assistance to Video Services staff when necessary.
∗ Follow the district’s policies and procedures as related to all HRMD guidelines and the district’s instructional initiatives.
∗ Follow the district’s policies and procedures as related to fixed assets.
∗ Develop leadership in subordinates and conduct performance evaluations.
* Responsible for keeping up to date on current technology being used by OCPS. With the support of the district, attends training to ensure skill level in various technologies is at the level required to perform in current position.
* Responsible for maintaining timely and accurate information and accountable for the quality of information maintained by those they supervise.
∗ Responsible for self-development and keeping up to date on current research, trends, and best practices relevant to the area of responsibility.

* Essential Performance Responsibilities

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Non-bargaining unit compensation plan, twelve months, 8.0 hours per day.

EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
