Overview

To provide technical expertise and access to district services in the areas of accountability, data visualization, and reporting strategies to assist school and district leaders with continuous improvement initiatives and achieving district goals.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:



  1. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential job functions. Master’s degree preferred.

  2. Two (2) years of experience in large-scale student or business systems data analysis and/or data visualization using advanced query languages or statistical software (e.g., Power BI, SQL, SPSS, STATA, R and/or VBA). Experience in K-12 education preferred.

  3. Demonstrated success in the development of data reporting and visualization resources in support of large projects.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Demonstrated knowledge of data management, analysis, interpretation, reporting, and visualization strategies. Demonstrated experience in the use of query languages, statistical analysis software (e.g., SQL, SPSS, STATA, R and/or VBA), and data visualization applications (e.g., Cognos, Tableau, Power BI). Demonstrated ability to identify key data sources to meet district informational needs. Demonstrated skill and experience in developing, writing, and presenting data outcomes in a variety of formats (e.g., reports, briefs, dashboards) to administrators, teachers, support staff, parents, and members of the community. Demonstrated ability to independently plan, execute, and monitor the completion of tasks and projects according to established timelines with minimal supervision. Demonstrated ability to work, communicate, and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrated ability in planning, developing, implementing, and monitoring processes related to all areas of responsibility in compliance with local, state, and federal requirements. Demonstrated ability to adapt to changes in priorities and work assignments. Demonstrated success working with others in a collaborative manner to establish goals and objectives, develop action plans, conduct data analysis, and communicate results. Demonstrated ability to facilitate group processes and engage in conflict resolution, planning, and decision-making between school and district leadership to build consensus and develop goals.

MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT:
Machines, tools, equipment, electronic devices, vehicles, etc., used in this position. Telephone, Computer, (Personal Computer and Mainframe), Automobile, Copier.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Describes physical conditions of this position.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Conditions the worker will be subject to in this position.

Indoors and Outdoors: The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.

∗ Represent the office and district in internal and external presentations, meetings, and conferences.
∗ Provide a system of support by developing and implementing processes to assist district departments and schools with accountability, data and reporting strategies, continuous improvement initiatives, and job-embedded professional development.
∗ Execute district, state, and federal policies and procedures.
∗ Support and communicate requirements of district, state, and federal policies and procedures to district departments and schools in a clear and intelligible manner.
∗ Evaluate data needs of school and district leaders and develop reporting products (e.g., district and school reports, dashboards, data briefs) that motivate action.
∗ Ensure that procedures and processes are in place to effectively meet critical district, state, and federal requirements related to areas of responsibility.
∗ Clearly communicate project requirements, informational updates, and requests with district and school leaders.
∗ Facilitate and monitor school accountability processes to include regular updates of accountability changes to district and school personnel through a variety of forms in a focused way that can be adequately addressed in the time available.
∗ Produce, update, and publish documentation for all processes directly related to areas of responsibility as identified by the supervisor(s).
∗ Independently manage assigned projects, data requests, and projects and maintain timely and accurate information.
∗ Maintain collaborative working relationships with other district divisions and departments (e.g., Information Technology Services, Division of Learning, Human Resources), and external stakeholders to implement data solutions for district and school needs.
∗ Lead collaborative efforts with district and school leaders to identify and monitor practices and processes that achieve outcomes to support student success.
∗ Support and monitor clear and measurable goals for all relevant areas of responsibility focused on critical needs for improving student achievement and the needed operational support within the district.
∗ Provide job-embedded professional development through sharing information and providing expertise regarding current trends and best practices in data analysis, reporting, and visualization.
∗ Keep the supervisor and other key people informed of critical issues about which they should be aware.
∗ Follow the district’s policies and procedures as related to all HRMD guidelines and the district’s instructional initiatives.
∗ Follow the district’s policies and procedures as related to fixed assets.
∗ Develop leadership in subordinates.
∗ Responsible for keeping up to date on current technology being used by OCPS. With the support of the district, attends training to ensure skill level in various technologies is at the level required to perform in current position.
∗ Responsible for maintaining timely and accurate information and accountable for the quality of information maintained by those they supervise.
∗ Responsible for self-development and keeping up to date on current research, trends and best practices relevant to the area of responsibility.

* Essential Performance Responsibilities

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Non-bargaining unit compensation plan, twelve months, 8.0 hours per day.

EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
